Artist Statement: Photography

Web World-1

I am a sculptor, exploring photography. My challenge has been to arrange forms in harmonious relation in space, three dimensionally. They say true change happens when you change your perspective. Using the camera as an instrument of inquiry has altered the way in which I experience my art and my world. I have always investigated the unseen and unnoticed in nature in search of design for my sculpture. With the camera, I am now drawn to capture the dance of reflected light and shadow, zooming in on my subject so as to take it out of context or filtering the subject through colored glass. This allows me to see more clearly theĀ  beauty and interrelationships of line and form that lie within the whole. I used to take snapshots. Now, I create abstractions of the images that call to me through the light.
